The City of Galesburg is again requiring face masks to be worn in city-run facilities, regardless of vaccination status, starting Monday.

These buildings include City Hall, where Galesburg City Council will meet tonight, and the Galesburg Public Safety Building.

The change in policy is in response to updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

IDPH announced last week that with the ramped-up spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19, they recommend everyone wear a mask in public indoor settings with “substantial and high transmission rates.”

As state and federal authorities release new health and safety guidance and requirements, the City says they will continue to “review and update coronavirus-related policies and procedures as warranted and inform the public of any changes.”
