
Fire investigators in Galesburg believe a blaze that did severe damage to a boarded home Tuesday was intentionally set.
Galesburg Fire responded Tuesday afternoon to 471 North Cherry St, just after 1 p.m.
All three stations responded, along with the 11 personnel on duty.
Heavy smoke and flames were emanating from the third floor and attic space of the boarded-up home when crews arrived.
Chief Dave Farrell established a command, the Central Station crew went into the home to attack. The Brook Street crew laddered up to the second floor of the structure and made entry with a hose line.
Back-up crews were called in to provide emergency coverage for the city.
While there were no injuries, the third story and attic of the building were “extensively damaged.
