VNA Community Services has closed its building to public traffic and suspended congregate meals after only being reopened for a few weeks.

VNA Leadership in a post on their social media Tuesday says that the decision is due to Knox County being at a “high transmission rate” for COVID-19.

They say it’s not an ideal situation but they are following Health Department guidance and are looking for the health of their clients and staff.

VNA will still offer “to-go” meals that can be picked up from 11-11:30 a.m, Monday through Friday.

They advise clients to watch VNA’s social media for outdoor events like Bingo and virtual education events coming up.

Staff says they understand the frustration and “all the angst surrounding a decision like this”, but add “when dealing with such a vulnerable population that is so susceptible to this virus we must make sure we don’t second guess ourselves down the line.”
