One person was airlifted from the scene of a single-vehicle accident in rural Henderson County.
According to Henderson County Chief Deputy Matthew Link, at around 5:52 Sunday morning, deputies responded to the east end of the Biggsville bypass of US 34 for a report of a single-vehicle rollover accident with a person who had been ejected.
Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered a passenger vehicle laying on its side in the ditch. The vehicle, described as a 2003 Nissan Xterra was traveling west on US 34 where the two-lane highway changes into four lanes.
The release says that the driver, 31-year-old Jacqueline Seals of Burlington, Iowa, did not navigate the lane changes and continued traveling into the eastbound lanes before over correcting the vehicle, causing it to skid out of control and roll several times.
Seals was ejected from the vehicle approximately 150 feet away. Also injured in the crash were passengers: 27-year-old Trenell Adams of Chicago and a male juvenile of unknown age.
Adams and the Juvenile were taken by the Biggsville Ambulance Service and Burlington Fire Department to Southeastern Iowa Regional Medical Center. MedForce airlifted Seals from the scene.
Assisting deputies was Biggsville Fire Department, Henderson County Dispatch, and Berg’s Towing.
The crash is still under investigation.
