28-year-old Kyle Reddick of Galesburg pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder in Knox County court Monday.

Reddick received a 26-year prison sentence for the plea, of which he’ll have to serve at least 85 percent.

This was as Reddick’s trial was to begin Monday.

Reddick faced four counts of attempted murder and other charges for a shooting in a residential area of Monroe Street on New Year’s Day.

Around 2 a.m. in the early hours of the New Year, one of the victims stated she was driving herself and three others when she parked in a friend’s driveway to go to a party down the block.

But then Reddick came out of the house shooting at the four occupants of the car.

They all sustained injuries but survived.

Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin calls this a “good outcome.” He says the risks of a trial were avoided while sending a strong message that “gun violence will not be tolerated.”

Karlin thanked and praised the work of the Galesburg and Illinois State Police in investigating this case.
