A 45-year-old McDonough County man was injured in a single-vehicle accident west of Macomb at around 9:20 Wednesday night.

According to a release from the Illinois State Police, Robert Gray was northbound on the Illinois Route 336 just south of Cpimtu Road 1350 North when he lost control of his vehicle, a 2005 Dodge pickup truck.

ISP’s preliminary investigation indicates that Gray’s vehicle left the roadway and overturned into the southbound ditch. He was taken by helicopter to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

State police infer that Gray had been drinking before the accident, as was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was additionally charged with improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
