155 new Coronavirus cases in Knox County

The recent surge of cases in Coronavirus Disease continues in Knox County.

The Knox County Unified Command announced 155 new cases of COVID-19 reported between Tuesday, August 31st, and Monday, September 6th.

Due to federal privacy restrictions, the release of any additional information is prohibited. In every effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission, local public health officials are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in direct contact with these individuals.

That brings the total number of cases seen in the county since the start of the pandemic to 6,284, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

To date, the IDPH says that Knox County has fully vaccinated 484 percent of the county population or 24,322 residents. 49,294 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the county.

The Unified Command continues offering vaccine clinics throughout the community, offering the two-dose Moderna and single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine to those 18-years and older, And the Pfizer vaccine to those 12 and older.

  • Tuesday, September 14 at the Unified Command Vaccine Center 1:30 pm-3:30 pm Pfizer & Janssen
  • Wednesday, September 15 at Carl Sandburg College 11:30 am-1:30 pm Moderna, Pfizer, & Janssen.
  • Wednesday, September 15 at Orpheum Theatre 6:30 pm-8:00 pm Moderna, Pfizer, & Janssen

Third dose vaccines are available to those who are immunocompromised at ALL Knox County Unified Vaccine Clinics and events.

Appointments are not required, but a third dose must be given at least 28 days after the second dose. The additional vaccine dose should be the same as the initial two-dose vaccine.
