The weekend is here and there’s plenty of ways to spend your weekend.
Saturday is the 20th Annual Abingdon Road Knights Car Show starting at 8:00 am and running throughout the afternoon with money raised to benefit the Abingdon Food Pantry.
Registration runs until noon with a $15 entry fee. If you decide to enter and bring a non-perishable item, you’ll receive two dollars off the entry.
A free t-shirt and dash plaque will be given to the first 100 entries. There will also be food available on the grounds and a 50/50 drawing with proceeds benefiting Hedding Grade School’s lunch program.
Saturday is also the Team Hope Walk to benefit those affected by Huntington’s disease and their families. Team Hope is the Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s largest national grassroots fundraising event.
The Team Hope Walk steps off from the Lake Storey Pavilion at 10:00 am and runs until 3:00 pm.
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on South Academy Street is holding its 30th Mexican Fiesta on Saturday starting at 11:00 am and running until 4:00 pm.
The menu includes either tacos or tostadas with beans or rice for $10 — that will include a drink. Plus, hot dogs for the kids. Carry-out orders are also available.
There will also be live music, games, face painting, a pinata for the kids, a silent auction, and a raffle.
From 9 until noon, drop off food, toys, cleaning supplies, gently used blankets, and monetary donations to Tompkins State Bank in Abingdon. Members of the Key Club will be in the parking lot for you to drive through and hand off your donations.
