On Friday, September 17th around 4:20 in the afternoon, GPD responded to a physical domestic call in the 400 block of Whitesboro Street. Upon arrival, officers made contact with an irate and heavily intoxicated 28-year old Nino Pagan. When officers attempted to question Pagan, he began walking away refusing to be on camera – referring to GPD’s body cameras. When officers informed him he was not free to go, Pagan became increasingly combative and angry. A struggle ensued and officers were forced to use a taser to get him into handcuffs. The female caller told officers she called police when an unwelcome Pagan showed up intoxicated. Pagan was transported to Cottage Hospital where he became even more combative – attempting to spit on hospital staff numerous times, yelling obscenities, and attempting to free himself from restraints. He was eventually discharged and transported to the Knox County Jail. Pagan was charged with two counts of Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer, two felony counts of Resisting a Peace Officers and Interfering with a report of Domestic Violence.
Just before 7:30 pm on Sunday, September 19th, Galesburg Police were dispatched to a house party being held in the 600 block of East Berrien Street in response to an intoxicated subject. Officers arrived and observed GHAS medics speaking to a male subject laying on the front lawn of the residence. Officers detected a strong alcoholic odor on 49-year old Jason Yerkey – he was being transported to Cottage Hospital for an evaluation. A little over three hours later, officers were dispatched to the hospital due to Yerkey being discharged and making threatening comments to employees. As officers escorted Yerkey out, he continually made threats to hospital staff and then refused to leave the property.
GPD placed Yerkey under arrest for Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Trespassing. Two days prior, on Friday, September 17th around 8:30 pm, police were dispatched to the intersection of East Main Street and North Cherry Street for reports of a nude man laying on the sidewalk. The subject was Jason Yerkey. Yerkey told officers he was drinking in a bar and didn’t know how he ended up naked. He was charged with Public Obscenity.
