Just after 4:30 pm on Saturday, October 2nd Galesburg Police responded to Shady Hill on Monmouth Boulevard for a battery complaint. 37-year old Travis Simpson of Galesburg has been banned from the property for causing multiple disturbances but used to be a regular, so bar staff was familiar with him. When Simpson tried to come inside the bar, employees told him to leave causing him to become irate. Simpson picked up a rock and threw it at a female employee’s face – breaking her glasses. Numerous witnesses confirmed the employee’s account. Simpson was found walking down Monmouth Boulevard less than an hour later and taken into custody. He was charged with Criminal Trespassing, Criminal Damage, Disorderly Conduct, and Aggravated Battery in a Public Place.
