Galesburg Police on Friday night responded to F&M Bank Stadium at Galesburg High School for reports of certain students threatening other students with weapons near the concession stand during the GHS football game. Staff members pointed out the two 14-year old male juveniles to police. When officers went to speak to the two teens, they refused to comply with police and continually walked away from officers. Officers had to tell the two repeatedly to stop. When officers went to detain the two, they began struggling with police – pushing back and swinging elbows. The two were eventually detained and escorted away from the football field. One of the teens was released after the incident with no further action taken. The other 14-year old was charged with Resisting a Peace Officer, Disorderly Conduct, and Criminal Damage to Government Property after several pieces of an officer’s equipment were broken during the struggle. The second juvenile was eventually released to his father.
