Galesburg Police on Sunday, October 3rd around 7:40 pm responded to the 200 block of Duffield Avenue for a domestic disturbance. Officers spoke with a female victim who told officers she got into a verbal altercation with a 38-year old male suspect who is the father of one of her children. During the argument, the suspect went into an adjacent room and began battering the female’s 10-year old son. When the female went to intervene, he began battering her as well. She jumped from a window to escape – causing a laceration to her hand. The male suspect then left the residence with their three-year-old child whom the female has full custody of. Officers spoke on the phone with the male suspect who was being uncooperative. A short time after the phone conversation, the female received a text from the male suspect saying her vehicle was parked down the road. Officers responded to the location of the vehicle to find the SUV abandoned with the three-year-old inside crying and wearing only a diaper. GPD reunited the child with his mother and notified DCFS. The male suspect has been placed on GPD’s pending arrest list facing charges of Aggravated Domestic Battery, Domestic Battery with prior convictions, and Endangering the Life of a Child.
