Donnie L. Brackett, age 87, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:03 P.M. on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
He was born on May 25, 1934, in Centerville, Iowa the son of William Roy and Mae (Herr) Brackett. He married L. June Meeker on April 9, 1954, in Galesburg, Illinois. She preceded him in death. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving is a daughter, Kristine Brackett of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Charlotte May of Knoxville, Illinois and
Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and six brothers and sisters.
He was very active in the Galesburg area his whole life, owning and operating a plumbing & heating company, pool construction, and working for constructions companies; owning and operating restaurants in the Galesburg area such as the former DJ Country Still, now known as Cherry Street, Poor Boy, and many others. He was a leading pioneer in flipping houses and real estate ventures.
He enjoyed going to auctions, snow skiing, boating, and attending NASCAR racing.
Cremation Rites will be accorded. There will be no services at this time. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory have been entrusted to handle his wishes.
