The City of Galesburg is in need of volunteers on Saturday, October 16, to take part in the annual Lake Storey fall clean-up day.

The event runs from 8:00 am-noon with light refreshments being provided. Any citizens or volunteer groups that are interested in participating are encouraged to come out and help.

Volunteers can gather at Lake Storey anytime between 8:00 and noon at the East Boat Ramp, accessed by taking Gatewood Lane off of North Henderson Street. There, city staff will provide trash bags and directions.

The water level will be low as the lake is currently being lowered. Volunteers will help clean along the shorelines and may have to walk through some of the wooded trails.

It is recommended that volunteers should dress appropriately for outdoor work and work gloves are encouraged.

The city says this is an outstanding opportunity for nature enthusiasts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or other community service organizations to help preserve and enhance the 411-acre community park and 130-acre lake.
