Tuesday, October 26th, around 1:30 in the morning, Galesburg Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of Washington Street – Galesburg’s Baymont Hotel for a battery in progress. The caller told police they believed a female subject was being battered by a male subject. The female had just been dropped off at the hotel for the night by police after a verbal dispute between her and her boyfriend. Both were intoxicated. An employee told police she watched on security video as the female: 21-year old Verenice Fernandez of Riverside, California, and the male: 19-year-old Dominic Donaldson of Galesburg physically fighting each other. The two eventually entered an elevator and police were waiting for them as they stopped on the first floor. Both Donaldson and Fernandez were taken into custody and transported to the Knox County Jail. Both were charged with domestic battery.

Galesburg Police on Friday, October 29th around 1:00 in the morning responded to the Quality Inn in Galesburg for a domestic altercation taking place. Earlier in the night, 28-year old Jesse Vogler of Galesburg was transported to the hospital for a drug overdose. He was treated, released, and then returned to the hotel he was staying at with a male family member. Vogler was banned from the hotel earlier in the day. When Vogler returned, he got into a physical altercation with his relative in their hotel room over his missing “dope” according to police reports. It was a hotel employee who broke up the fight. Officers made contact with both men – who both had lacerations to their heads and bloody noses. Jesse Vogler was taken into custody and transported to the Knox County Jail. His male relative was taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. Jesse Vogler was charged with Domestic Battery causing bodily harm and Criminal Trespassing to a Building.
