Mary E. “Flo” Andrews, 86, of Rock Island, formerly of Galesburg, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021, at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehab, Rock Island, IL.
Mary was born March 20, 1935, in Monmouth, the daughter of Lora Clarinda (Allen) and Leo Gibson. She married Stewart Andrews, Sr. on March 28, 1964, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2015. Mary is survived by three sons, Marc (Debra) Gibson and Rodney (Cindy) Blue both of Galesburg, and Stewart Andrews of Columbia, SC; three daughters, Christa (Steve) Blue of Galesburg, Latricia Andrews of Rock Island, and Allyson Andrews of Davenport, IA; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, D. Jean Duffy of Galesburg; and a host of nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Mary owned and operated Andrew’s Lounge in Galesburg with her husband, Stewart for over 40 years until they retired. She also worked for the Galesburg Research Hospital and Carver Community Action Agency. Mary was a member of Full Gospel Church in Galesburg. She also enjoyed bowling and knitting. Mary was an amazing cook and loved to bake.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Rev. Tyson Parks, III will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Private family burial of cremated remains will be at East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
