A Monmouth woman and Viola man were killed in a two-vehicle accident in rural Warren County Saturday night.

According to a release from the Illinois State Police, a 2014 Buick Encore was southbound on Illinois Route 135, just south of Little York, at around 8:40. A 2018 Toyota Highlander was northbound on the same road when the Buick crossed the center line and the two vehicles struck head-on.

ISP says that the driver of the Buick, 34-year-old Hannah S. Porter, was fatally injured in the crash. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle. 78-year-old Roland E. Nelson was a backseat passenger of the second vehicle. He was also killed in the accident.

The 46-year-old female driver of the Highlander was airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries. The 50-year-old male front-seat passenger of that vehicle was taken by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

State Police say no other information will be released at this time.
