Roberta F. “Bert” Ward, 81, of Alpha, IL died Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Trinity Point in Rock Island, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2021, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Woodhull. Burial is in the Alpha Cemetery. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha, where a rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. prior to visitation. She was born April 23, 1940, in GreenTop, Missouri to Joseph and Frances Cody Farley. She graduated from Brashear High School in Missouri. Roberta was employed as a waitress at the Moline Maid-Rite when she met and married Laurence “Larry” Ward on September 9, 1961, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in East Moline, IL.
Roberta was a homemaker and after her children were in school, she went back to waitressing at the Cornerstone in New Windsor and the Alpha Lanes.
She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Woodhull, Meals on Wheels, Die Hard Cubs Fan Club, and was a shareholder of the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include her husband, Laurence; two daughters, Lori Ward of Alpha, IL; Teri (Jason Smay) Ward of Galesburg, IL; three sons, Todd (Anne) Ward of Cambridge, IL; Scott (Kathryn) Ward of Galesburg, IL; Gregory (Kelly) Ward of Corpus Christi, TX; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Troy; one grandson, Colin, two sisters, and one brother.
