More difficult news for Galesburg Cottage Hospital and its clinic Friday, as every Cottage surgeon, except for one, has been let go.
Director of Community and Staff Relations Courtney Bibo confirmed to WGIL Friday that Doctors Greg Schierer, Craig Wilson, Mark Davis, Thomas Patterson, and Michael Scherer have all had their employment terminated.
Dr. Lorraine Garland remains the one surgeon employed by Cottage.
Bibo says that Cottage also still has Women and Family Health Services.
Still in just the past month Cottage lost its accreditation as a hospital, had its agreement for Medicare and Medicaid payments terminated and this week the Clinic filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Also in the past month, four longtime doctors at Cottage retired and two popular pediatricians from Cottage were hired by OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center.
