Republican Dan Swanson confirms that he will run for another term as State Representative.

Swanson now represents the 74th District but will now have to run for the newly created 71st Illinois State House District.

He was first elected to office in 2016, winning a three-way primary and easily defeating his Democratic opponent in an effort to be the successor to the seat Don Moffitt held for almost two and a half decades.

Since he went to Springfield, Swanson has focused on issues like agriculture, helping veterans, improving and services for rural communities.

He says he’s “led the charge for accountability and action at Quincy Veterans Home following the Legionnaire’s outbreak and more recently holding officials accountable in our Veterans Homes for their handling of COVID.”

Swanson will have a primary opponent in Matthew Rauschert of Bushnell.

Swanson helps run his 6th generation Swanson family farm near Andover, Illinois. He and his wife Tammy have two married sons and 2 grandchildren.
