Galesburg woman charged after writing $37K bad check at Galesburg Nissan.

Galesburg Police on Wednesday, January 12th responded to Galesburg Nissan on North Henderson Street for a fraud complaint. Officers met with management at the dealership who said 25-year old Abigail Angulo of Galesburg wrote a check for a 2021 Nissan Rogue SUV back on January 6th and the check did not clear. The check was for $37,895. Police later responded to the 300 block of East Grove Street and Angulo was taken into custody. She refused to answer any questions and was transported to the Knox County Jail. Officers then discovered that Angulo, formerly Abigail L. Martin, had a criminal history dating back to 2019. Since 2019, Angulo/Martin had been arrested four times for forgery, five times for identity theft, practicing nursing without a license, nursing with a fraudulent license, impersonating a registered nurse, theft, motor vehicle theft, vehicle theft conspiracy, and more. Angulo/Martin was additionally charged for theft, forgery, a $100,000 warrant out of Morgan County, and a $25,000 warrant out of Greene County. She had three non-extraditable warrants as well: two from North Carolina and one from Macoupin County.
