Out of public safety, GPD terminates Sunday morning vehicle pursuit with known suspect.

Galesburg Police on Sunday morning (January 16th) observed a male subject enter a vehicle and depart the Steak N Shake parking lot on North Henderson Street. Officers are familiar with the 17-year old male due to previous encounters; knew he had no valid driver’s license, and knew he had a valid Knox County Warrant. Police are also familiar with the vehicle – the male was driving the vehicle when he fled from police back in September. Officers attempted to perform a traffic stop, and the male accelerated down South Henderson Street weaving in-between other motorists. The male turned on East Main with GPD in pursuit and reached speeds of over 71 miles per hour near the Don Moffitt Overpass. The male continued down East Main running red lights and weaving in and out of traffic. Out of public safety, the pursuit was terminated. The male has been added to the Galesburg Police’s pending arrest list and is facing charges of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, No Valid Driver’s License, and numerous other traffic offenses. The male is also wanted in previous aggravated fleeing and eluding incidents and a criminal damage incident.
