Knox County residents, technical experts, and other stakeholders are getting ready for another meeting to update the county’s plan for mitigating the effects of severe weather.
The Knox County All Hazards Mitigation Planning Committee will hold their next meeting on Mar 3 at 10 a.m. at the Public Safety Building in the Emergency Operations Center.
This is their second meeting and they’ll continue to plan over the next few months with an eye on reducing damage caused by natural disasters like floods, thunderstorms, ice storms, tornadoes, and excessive heat.
Knox County EMA Coordinator Randy Hovind says this meeting specifically is to identify how often these types of events happen.
From there, Hovind says that they’ll begin to update each participant’s list of activities and projects.
Once the plan is complete, comprehensive information will be available in one document to help guide those making decisions during a disaster.
The committee meetings are open to the public but those who come in person are required to wear face masks.
