Carl Sandburg College will keep its current tuition rates for the next academic year.

The community college’s Board of Trustees approved the rates at their monthly meeting last Thursday.

Tuition will stay at $175 per credit hour for in-district students and $262 per hour for out-of-district students and $292 for out-of-state students.

This is the second time in three years that Sandburg has kept a flat tuition rate and these rates are a cumilative 6 percent increase over the last four years.

Trustees at the same meeting accepted a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program.

The funds will support a youth agriculture camp on the Sandburg Main Campus this summer.

Also with the new academic year, three Sandburg faculty were granted tenure; sociology instructor Renee Eickman, English instructor Sharon Trotter-Martin, and library instructional services’ Marla Turgeon.
