Galesburg Police on Monday, March 14th responded to a residence in the 1300 block of North Henderson Street for reports of a domestic battery. Upon arrival, officers met with the victims: an 11-year old female and a 6-year old male. The female told officers 39-year old Ronald McNeely had been drinking throughout the day and had a history of becoming violent. A physical altercation took place between McNeely and the 11-year old where he grabbed her by both arms causing a laceration to a forearm – she complained to officers about pain in her arms. He also grabbed a metal pipe at one point, threatening her with it. When the 6-year old male attempted to console McNeely, he purposely kicked the boy in his privates. Officers made contact with an intoxicated McNeely who refused to comply with officers’ orders. With the metal pipe within McNeely’s reach, officers were forced to use a taser on him to get him to comply. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Knox County Jail. The 11-year old female was treated and released from OSF St. Mary’s. McNeely was charged with two counts of Domestic Battery causing bodily harm with a prior conviction and Resisting a Peace Officer.
