
Galesburg Police last Monday, March 14th responded to the 600 block of Day Street in response to a report of battery. Police met with the male victim who lives at the residence with the 31-year old male suspect. The victim said he and the suspect had been living at the residence for about a week and got into an argument about the back door being left open. The suspect then struck the victim numerous times with a closed fist and then threw a brick at the victim, striking him in the face. Officers observed numerous lacerations on the victim’s face and he was transported to OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment. The suspect, knowing there were valid Knox County warrants for his arrest, took off on the victim’s E-bike before police arrived. Officers also noted that the interior of the residence was in very poor, dilapidated conditions – unfit for human habitation, according to police reports. The extent of the victim’s injuries is unknown – he left the hospital against the advice of medical personnel. The 31-year old suspect is facing Aggravated Battery with a weapon charge.
