The Knox County Board has released a survey that they hope will be widely completed by residents of the county.
The goal of the survey is to find out what parts of the county have limited access to broadband internet and use American Rescue Plan Act funds to correct that.
The board is looking for citizens to complete the survey, regardless if they have broadband access already, to get a more complete picture.
“The broadband survey is super simple. You can do it from your computer. They’ve got it set so you can even do it from your phone. It’s really easy to read on your telephone or smart device,” Knox County Board Chair Jared Hawkinson said Wednesday night. “It’s just not for people with broadband access. It’s for everybody county-wide to share what kind of services they currently have so we can compare what services we need to get to those that are underserved or unserved in the county.”
Board member David Amor said that the county has partnered with several organizations, including school districts, the farm bureau, township officials association, and the chamber of commerce, to get the word out about the survey and work with regional libraries to assist those in filling out the survey.
Amor said the website would be live by April 1. It does appear to be active now and can be found at go.illinois.edu/knoxsurvey
