Man charged with attempted murder after Chicago cops injured

CHICAGO (AP) – Police say a man faces attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting a Chicago police officer during an exchange of gunfire and injuring a second officer by pinning him between two vehicles. Twenty-eight-year-old James Callion was wounded in Monday’s shootout with police during a traffic stop and hospitalized in serious to critical condition. The Chicago Police Department says he faces three counts of attempted murder and other charges. Police said officers stopped Callion for several traffic violations and as the officers walked to his car, he allegedly rammed his vehicle into one of them, pinning him against a squad car, and opened fire, wounding the other officer in the hand.
