UPDATE 4/3:  New details have been released regarding the arrest of two teens for attempted murder in a Saturday morning shooting in Monmouth.

According to a release from Warren County State’s Attorney Thomas R. Siegel, 19-year-old Cayden J. Bell and 18-year-old Nathan A. Perez were booked in the Warren County Jail for the shooting.

Siegel says that 21-year-old Brock Noles suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the pre-dawn shooting but was able to provide information to officers about his attackers, which led to the arrest of both Perez and Bell. He says that all three knew each other but the motive for the shooting remains, “unclear at this time.”

Police first located Bell inside the vehicle used in the assault. He was interviewed before being arrested and charged. Perez was arrested later in the morning at the home of a relative in Monmouth. He was taken into custody without serious incident.

Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge and former Warren County State’s Attorney Andrew Doyle found probable cause for the detention of both men. Siegel notes that Bell refused to comply with the hearing process and bond could not be set for him.

Warren County records reflect that Bell was charged on March 23 with two counts of theft in an unrelated case.

Bond for Perez was set at $750,000, requiring 10 percent ($75,000) to secure his release. Doyle also imposed a condition of release, that if Perez is freed on bond that he would be required to wear a GPS monitor, report to probation, and comply with other conditions while he awaits trial.

Court records reflect that Perez was free on a $750 cash bond for numerous charges, including burglary and wire fraud. But, Siegel says that they’re related to a March 1 incident and unrelated to the weekend shooting.

Both suspects are expected to be in court on Tuesday, according to Siegel, who expects to file formal charges on Monday.

Siegel notes that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
