
Betty Ruth Hoskins, 95, of Galesburg, died peacefully Friday, April 8, 2022, at Courtyard Estates, Knoxville, Illinois.
Betty was born on January 27, 1927, in Kirkwood, Illinois the daughter of Collie and Madeline (Miller) Coffman.
Betty completed her nurse’s training at Hinsdale Sanitarium and Hospital in 1955. She went on to a long career as a supervisor at Galesburg Research Hospital, eventually retiring from Zeller Mental Health in Peoria, Illinois. Betty married Robert Allen Hoskins on July 6, 1969, in Oquawka, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2012. Betty is survived by one daughter, Doris (Luigi) Spinillo of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Angela (David Wargula) Spinillo of Oak Park, Illinois, and Luigi J. Spinillo of Maui, Hawaii; and one great-granddaughter, Francesca Wargula. Along with her husband, Betty is preceded in death by her son, Gregory J. Faulkner on December 1, 2001; one grandson, Gregory M. Faulkner; and her three sisters, Mary, Mildred, and Sarah.
Betty was a longtime member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Galesburg. Betty had many talents from gardening, both flowers, and vegetables to her knack for capturing the best photos. She was also an amazing seamstress and was always up to the challenge of learning something new. Betty enjoyed traveling for many years throughout the United States and the World.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2022, at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Elder Gary Judy officiating. A luncheon will follow services at the Thomas Legacy Center with a private family burial at Oquawka Cemetery, Oquawka, Illinois.
