Members of the public are encouraged to line the procession route for slain Knox County Deputy Nicholas Weist as he is transported to the memorial service Saturday afternoon.
The procession departs from Dennison Funeral Home in Viola at 11:15. The memorial service is expected to start at 2:00 pm and will be livestreamed on the Galesburg High School YouTube channel.
Following the service and the first responder’s walkthrough, a procession will take Deputy Weist from the high school to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory.
First Student says they’re accepting memorials and monetary donations for Deputy Weist’s service at Dollar General on Henderson Street between 10 am and noon on Saturday.
