Monmouth Police
Police in Monmouth are actively investigating a Monday night shooting that resulted in a Rock Island County man’s death.
According to the Monmouth Police Department, officers responded to the 300-block of South 9th Street at around 7:02 for a reported shooting.
Details of the incident are unclear but police report that a 26-year-old victim was found at the scene and taken to OSF Holy Family Medical Center, where they succumbed to their injuries.
The individual was identified as 26-year-old Romel Gilliam of Milan, Illinois.
