The Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development is preparing for its annual meeting on June 16 which will in part focus on what draws and retains talent to the local workforce.

KCAP President Ken Springer says they’ve been holding these meetings for years, trying a few different models including having a keynote speaker or panel discussions.

This year will be a panel discussion that will focus on asking “How does our community appear to outsiders?”

“Somebody coming from the outside has a different perspective. They’re seeing this community with different eyeballs,” Springer says.  “And so, we thought we’d ask them what really drew you here and I think this might give policymakers some ideas on different assets they could enhance or just in general how outsiders are looking at the community.”

The panel will consist of 5 people who have relocated to Galesburg in recent years, some of which are Galesburg natives returning and others who recently moved to town for the first time.

The meeting will also feature remarks from Springer looking back at some of the organization’s successes in the past year with an outlook for the year ahead.

The KCAP Annual meeting is 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM on June 16th at the Orpheum Theater in Downtown Galesburg.

Anyone can attend, it is free, but they ask you to RSVP.

You can do that by calling 309-343-1194 or by emailing Abby Colvin at abby@knoxpartnership.com
