Knox County State’s Attorney Jeremy Karlin has filed attempted first-degree murder charges against a Galesburg man.
28-year-old Dakota Taylor’s bond was set at $750,000 and will next be in court on June 28th for a preliminary hearing.
Karlin alleges that Taylor on Friday stabbed a woman in the face with a pair of scissors and then punched and kicked her as she lay on the ground. The victim was taken to a hospital to treat her injuries.
A driver observed the incident, got out of his car and threatened Taylor with a hammer until he dropped the scissors.
Soon after law enforcement arrived on the scene they took Taylor into custody.
Karlin doesn’t indicate if there was any relationship that existed between Taylor and his victim.
Judge James Baber found probable cause existed and set Taylor’s bond on Friday.
