She was born July 29, 1948, in Galesburg, the daughter of Lester and Gertrude “Trudy” (Briggs) Kronsted. She married Donald L. Doubet on March 18, 1981, in Galesburg. He survives as does a son, Lucas (and fiancée Kursti Cooper) of rural Toulon, four grandchildren: Justin, Gavin and twins, Eleanor and Evelyn Doubet, a brother, Darryl, a cousin, Jeanie, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dave and Pat Doubet and a sister-in-law, Debra Schwarz, all of Williamsfield and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a younger sister, Becky, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dean and Elaine Doubet, and a nephew, Ben Murphy.

Judy grew up and attended grade school in Wataga where her folks ran a small grocery store and lunch counter. In 1963, they moved to Abingdon, again opening a grocery store where her dad was known as one of the best meat cutters in the area. She attended and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1966. After several semesters at Western Illinois University, she entered the Carl Sandburg School of Nursing. She was a member of the first class to graduate from the School of Nursing. Like her mother before her, she started working at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. She loved working with the patients and had moved up to evening supervisor and finished her 40-plus year career at Cottage Hospital as a case manager and in 2004 was named Employee of the Year.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, shopping for them, and decorating for the various holidays. She was a member and past president of Williamsfield’s Home Culture Club and the Williamsfield United Methodist Church and its Methodist Women.

The family would like to thank the staff and management of Seminary Manor for Judy’s kind and compassionate care as we dealt with her end-of-life experience.
