
A trial will begin on Monday, July 25th, for a man accused of paying $10,000 to have the former State’s Attorney killed in Mercer County.48-year-old Kevin Hockenberry faces a single Class X charge of solicitation/murder for hire for allegedly trying to pay someone $10,000 to kill former Mercer County prosecutor Meegan Lee. When Hockenberry was arrested on the murder-for-hire charge he was already in the Mercer County Jail, awaiting trial on a Class 3 felony charge of having sexual relations with a family member. He’s also facing felony charges of perjury and misdemeanor counts of violating an order of protection. If Hockenberry is found guilty he would face a sentence between 20 to 40 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Jury selection begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
