Those looking to get a job, or at least brush up on some of the skills that would land them a job, should consider the Essential Skills Academy that will be at the Galesburg Public Library the next two Fridays. The Library is partnering with Carl Sandburg College’s Career Development Center and the Regional Office of Education for this program. The Essential Skills Academy is a sixteen-hour course taught over two days that will teach attendees skills to improve their success rate in gaining and retaining employment. Some of the material that will be covered includes; business and social etiquette, communication, time management, teamwork, resume building, interview prep, and much more. The Essential Skills Academy will be both Friday, August 12, and Friday, August 19 from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. It’s free and open to the public but registration is required.
