Seven juveniles were arrested Saturday night after getting caught trespassing and vandalizing Churchill Jr. High School. Back on August 6th, WGIL reported that Galesburg Police were beefing-up patrol around Churchill after numerous reports of kids breaking into the now City-owned school. Police responded to a security alarm just after midnight on August 13th and set up a perimeter along with Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies. Officers discovered an open door on the southeast side of the building. Officers announced themselves and four juveniles sprinted to the open door and were detained. Three more juveniles were also found inside the school and were detained. Police observed green paint spilled all over lockers and hallways, numerous broken exit signs, and numerous fire extinguishers that had been sprayed and left on the floor. All seven male juveniles were taken into custody. Five of the teens are 14 years old, and two are 13 years old. All seven were charged with Criminal Trespassing to State Land, Criminal Damage to Property, and Curfew Violation. They were all processed at the Knox County Jail and Mary Davis Home and all seven were released to their parents.
