Trio of individuals arrested after found drinking outside after hours

Three individuals were arrested back on Friday, August 5th after they were caught drinking outside of a closed bar. Galesburg Police were dispatched to Duffy’s on South Cherry Street around 2:17 am on August 5th in reference to three subjects sitting outside the bar drinking. Officers approached the three individuals who were “a threat to the health and safety of themselves” due to their level of intoxication, according to police reports. Police made contact with 43-year-old Jeffrey Gabel and 61-year-old Johnny Mixon both of Galesburg. A third, female subject, 39-year-old Ashley Klein was asleep on a table and unresponsive to police. Klein was transported by GHAS to St. Mary’s Medical Center for an evaluation. Gabel and Mixon were assisted to a patrol car. Officers then located a clear baggie containing what would later field-test positive for methamphetamine in Mixon’s wallet. Mixon, Klein, and Gabel were all three charged with public intoxication. Mixon was additionally charged with Possession of Meth less than 5 grams.
