Aledo Chief of Police facing felony charges; turned himself in on Monday.

The Aledo Police Department’s Chief of Police was arrested on Monday, August 29th, after turning himself in at the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office. In a news release from the Illinois State Police, 62-year-old Christopher Sullivan was under investigation for an incident back in June of 2021. According to the release: “ISP DCI Agents initiated an investigation” into Sullivan “in his capacity as the Aledo Police Department Chief of Police while conducting an arrest.” No further details were released about the incident. Sullivan has been charged with two Class 3 Felony counts of official misconduct and one Class A Misdemeanor count of battery. Sullivan’s bond was set at $10,000 which he posted 10% and was released. The Mercer County State’s Attorney’s Office requested a Special Prosecutor for the case, and the Henry County State’s Attorney’s Office was appointed.
