Galesburg’s Orpheum Theatre announced Wednesday the booking of renowned writer, humorist, and style icon Fran Lebowitz for Nov. 9.
The appearance will feature both an onstage interview with retired local radio hero Terry Cavanaugh and a question and answer session with the audience.
Lebowitz will then be available to sign books in the lobby after the program.
The Orpheum says announcing Lebowitz, “In a cultural landscape filled with endless pundits and talking heads, Fran Lebowitz stands out as one of our most insightful social commentators.”
The New York Times Book Review calls Lebowitz an “important humorist in the classic tradition.”
Lebowitz for years had a recurring role as Judge Janice Goldberg on TV’s Law & Order. She also had a part in the Martin Scorsese-directed film, The Wolf of Wall Street.
Martin Scorsese also directed two directed documentaries about Lebowitz; “Public Speaking”, and a limited documentary series, “Pretend It’s a City” that’s streaming on Netflix.
Tickets for An Evening with Fran Lebowitz range from $35 to $50 and will become available online Monday, September 5 at 10 am, and at the box office the following Tuesday.
Tickets can always be bought online at galesburgorpheum.org/tickets.
