
Galesburg Police on Wednesday, August 31st, responded to the East Main Street Circle K for a male suspect who physically battered a male employee. The 32-year-old male victim and a witness told police that 33-year-old Raymond Levey of Galesburg was intoxicated and was attempting to purchase liquor at the store. Levey has a previous charge of Public Intoxication after a separate incident at the store. Levey called the male victim a “snitch” and slammed the bottle on the counter to which the male employee refused to serve him. After Levey departed, the male employee stepped outside and was confronted by Levey who struck him in the face. The employee pushed Levey down and continued to hold him down until officers arrived. Police reviewed security footage of the incident which showed Levey shoving the employee numerous times and the employee attempted to walk away several times. Levey was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Battery in a Public Place.
