Sam Rice spent over a decade tracking down the details of his childhood friend Monte Henderson’s life.
Henderson’s difficult life which included enduring abuse was cut tragically short when he was killed in the Vietnam War.
Rice just wanted to know more about Henderson’s life and final resting place but supporters eventually pushed him to write a book titled, “Finding Monte Henderson.”
Rice talked to WGIL on Tuesday ahead of a book signing at Wordsmith Bookshoppe in Galesburg from 1 to 3p.m. on Saturday Oct. 1.
