Chicago police: Suspect in custody after human remains found

CHICAGO (AP) – Chicago police say a suspect is in custody after officers investigating a report of a missing person discovered human remains inside a freezer in a boarding house. Brendan Deenihan, chief of detectives of the Chicago Police Department, told reporters Tuesday that the home’s owner, a 55-year-old woman, is believed to be the victim. The remains were found Monday evening. Deenihan says a suspect who lived in the boarding house on Chicago’s Northwest Side was taken into custody. The Chicago Sun-Times reports Deenihan said the suspect has declined to speak to detectives about the slaying. The remains were found after a resident of the boarding house filed a missing persons report for the building’s owner.
