
Galesburg Police on Sunday morning, October 16th, responded to the 400 block of Clark Street for a reported burglary to a motor vehicle. The 33-year-old owner of a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche said his SUV was burglarized with only $20 in small bills taken – the entire truck had been rummaged through.
Police later Sunday morning responded to the 600 block of North Academy Street where a resident had video footage of two vehicles being burglarized across the street. The 23-year-old female victim told police her purse was taken from the Ford sedan. The purse was then located in the 400 block of North Academy Street but inside it was the Driver’s License, ID cards, and bank cards belonging to another person whose car was broken into that night. The male victim did not know how his personal items got mixed into a purse that was stolen.
Another call came from the 600 block of North Academy Street where a Lexus SUV was burglarized, but nothing seemed to be taken.
The night before, a 27-year-old female and a 25-year-old female reported their purses were stolen out of an unlocked 2020 Chevy Malibu in the 1300 block of West Carl Sandburg Drive.
