
Night Time Police Violent Crime Intervention. Police Vehicles with Flashing Lights.
Galesburg Police early Saturday afternoon, October 16th, initiated a traffic stop on an SUV that failed to stop at the intersection of East Knox and South Pearl Street. Officers are familiar with the 21-year-old male driver of Galesburg and the vehicle was registered to a 30-year-old Alexis woman. When police made contact with the man, he opened the door and immediately said that he did not have a driver’s license and that he had just stolen the vehicle. As police were conducting the stop, the stolen vehicle report came through dispatch from the vehicle’s owner. It was taken from the 800 block of East First Street in Monmouth. The female owner arrived on the scene and took possession of the vehicle which had no damage or any items missing. The male suspect was also in possession of another set of keys believed to be stolen. The man was charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle, No Valid Driver’s License, and Disobeying a Stop Sign.
