Galesburg has a new multi millionaire. And it happened in an instant.
Hy-Vee at 1975 National Blvd. in Galesburg announced on its Facebook page Friday that it recently sold a scratch-off ticket that resulted in $3 million prize for the lucky winner.
The National Boulevard Hy-Vee store manager, who would only identify himself as Josh when contacted Friday afternoon, said he was notified of the news earlier in the day by the Illinois State Lottery. He did not know what kind of game resulted in the winning ticket, or the name of the winner.
The Illinois State Lottery posts an ongoing list of instant ticket winners over $25,000 on its website, but the Galesburg winner has yet to make the list.
