
Night Time Police Violent Crime Intervention. Police Vehicles with Flashing Lights.
Galesburg Police on Saturday night responded to numerous shots fired calls in the 900 block of Willard Street. A caller advised dispatch that a male suspect was in a white van parked on Willard and officers responded to the van. Police located a black male subject laying face-down in the front seat of the van and he was taken into custody. The van belonged to the couple who live at the address on Willard. Laying on the front floorboard was a silver and black Smith & Wesson handgun that had been reported stolen in Galesburg in August. Dispatch then advised officers that the 41-year-old male had two valid Knox County warrants with a combined bond amount of $23,000. According to police reports, the man was intoxicated at the time. The man had two shell casings in his pants pocket and the firearm had a round in the chamber. The male was transported to the Knox County Jail. He was charged with the warrants, being a Felon in Possession of a Stolen Firearm, being a Felon in Possession of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Ammo without a FOID Card, and Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle.
