Galesburg Police on Sunday morning, November 20th, responded to The Store bar in the 400 block of East Berrien Street for a report of a burglary. Officers met with the bar’s owner who said sometime after closing time the night before and that morning, someone broke in and stole over $1,300 in cash. The owner informed officers of where cash is kept at the bar and only employees know about it. The two female bartenders that worked the night before were ruled out as suspects. The majority of the robbery was caught on security video. Police reviewed the video where an unknown male subject, shortly after 3:00 am, opens a window on the southeast side of the building, but then enters through the main door that wasn’t properly locked. The subject went immediately to where cash is kept inside the bar. He is seen looking through the cash register, moves off camera, and comes back with a pry bar to open a cupboard and take the cash. The robbery took place in a span of 5-6 minutes. The suspect was wearing a white hoodie with his face completely covered. There are no suspects at the time of the police report and the investigation is ongoing.
