A single-vehicle accident early Monday morning, December 12th, led to the DUI arrest of a Galesburg woman. Galesburg Police around 4:30 in the morning on Monday responded to the 300 block of Pearl Street where a car struck a telephone pole. Dispatch informed officers the vehicle had left the scene. Officers arrived and found the vehicle’s front license plate and then observed the vehicle driving northbound on Chambers Street and then pulling into a driveway on Sumner Street. Police then made contact with the 35-year-old female driver. The vehicle sustained front-end damage and the airbag had deployed yet the female denied being in an accident. The woman was emitting a strong alcoholic odor and the woman didn’t have any shoes. After a field sobriety test indicated signs of impairment, the woman was placed under arrest. She refused to provide a breath sample. Ultimately, the woman was charged with DUI A2, Aggravated DUI no insurance, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Notify of Damage to Property.
